I love Patrick, Mia, and Zeus!

Hard Wood was an enjoyable, funny, and cute read. It all had a very light and happy feel to it, with few bumps in the road. Patrick is a sweet and "normal" guy, as Mia says, and I loved him. I'm not much of a cat person, but I loved Zeus! He is adorable and his chapters were cute and unique, especially the last epilogue. Mia and Patrick are cute together and I enjoyed reading their journey. I especially loved that a lot of the previous characters were included and we got some updates from them. Hard Wood was a good way to end the series.

Fun and Sweet!

I read this entire book within 7 hours...I was super sucked in. Hard Wood was super cute, fun, and light. It was a really sweet and feel good romance. I loved the lightness to it. Patrick is adorable to me and I dislikes cats, but Zeus was a lot of fun. I love the perfect fit that Mia and Patrick are to one another. They both know what they want, but have trouble navigating what the other wants. I enjoyed the overall story and really like these two together. We got to see a bit of the whole gang through out and it was bittersweet. I love this world and group of characters, and I am sad their stories are coming to a close. Definitely love all these men and being in their heads.

YES! Another purr-fect romance from Lauren Blakely! This sweet and sexy and standalone rom-com is all that and a huge bag of catnip. Get this book and see why Mia, Patrick, and a cat named Zeus will steal your heart. Hard Wood is told through Patrick’s point of view. Having read Lauren’s other books, I knew this book was going to be solid. I thought it was brilliant how she was able to use Zeus’ voice to tell his kitty cat side of the story as well as Mia’s. Hard Wood is so much fun, drama-free and such a fast and lovable read. Patrick's wood is good ;)

Gotta love a "Boy Scout"!

Another great Male POV Rom-Com from Lauren Blakely! She is a master at making me feel warm and fuzzy from these sweet alpha males and their journey to get their girl. Patrick is a boy-scout, he is sweet and adventurous and he knows what he wants! Mia is a workaholic who needs to be reminded how to slow down and relax and Patrick is just who she needs to help remind her. Their story is sweet and sexy. And to no surprise for most this book is filled with pets ;)

This series has the most drool worthy cover models because these stories are all told from the guys point of view, even Patrick's cat, Zeus, has something to say about the relationship that develops between Patrick and Mia. I loved the scenes where both Patrick and Mia confess secrets to Zeus; he knows everything that is in Patrick and Mia's hearts, but of course, he's keeping their secrets to himself. These characters are very likable and the storyline is enjoyable but it lacked conflict and the heartbreaking angst that goes hand in hand when two people are falling in love. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my unsolicited and voluntary review are completely my own.

I loved absolutely everything about this book. Wait, I am not happy that I finished it and it is over. I don't like that part. This is one of those books, the rare ones, where you wish you could forget everything about the book and read it again, for the first time. I don't want it to be over...I wanted another epilogue, and another, and another. But, seriously, it was perfection. Yeah, yeah, I know. I say that about all of Lauren Blakely's books. And, it is true about every single one of them, and for different reasons every time. This one, I could not stop smiling. And, I adored Zeus. The addition of Patrick's cat (as much as I am sure Zeus would protest this name) gave this book a humor, and a vibe that is so different than other books with pets, I think because Lauren Blakely clearly knows cats, and how they think...or at least how humans believe they think, as who knows. As a cat person myself, and one who absolutely loves the quirks of having a cat in my life (one of the "drag" variety who will not be going outside, unlike this cat), I adored Zeus. It had characters you love, quotes by one of my favorite authors, cats you want to cuddle and get high on catnip, and recurring characters you are happy to see again. If you haven't read the other books, first, what are you thinking??? Go read them!!! And, second, the recurring characters don't keep this from being a standalone, and you can read it even if you haven't read the others (although I am still stuck on the idea that you might not have read them?!?!?) and still enjoy Patrick and Mia. Patrick and Mia are perfect. I love that they know how perfect they are for one another from the beginning, and that it takes them a little time to tell one another. Not because they are afraid of rejection, or because they doubt their feelings, but because they are ok with waiting for the other person, for as long as it takes, for them to work out and be together. So perfect, charming and fun to read. Zeus. I am not even sure what to say about Zeus. Wait, I don't need to say anything. He is a cat, and he already knows. Because, well, he is a cat. And, I ADORED him. I loved that he was a part of the book, and that he got to be a character. Because he is awesome...and all good romances should have a cat. Really. Romance, for it to work, needs to engage the mind and the heart of the reader. You have to not only believe in the characters, you have to feel what they are feeling, their joy, their uncertainty, and their happiness. This is so easy to do with Lauren's books, as they are so well written they draw you in, and you feel all the feels, you can't help it...it just happens and you are willingly along for the ride. The ending is perfect, and it is so true to them, to the way they have been the entire time. And, while this is hard to say without spoiling so I will be vague, the sheer romance of his idea, of how they should begin the new phase of their relationship is the kind of thing you will still be swooning over days later. It was probably the cat's idea. I loved this book. And, I recommend it. Don't believe me? Just ask my cat Maxwell, he knows all...and knew it first.

Who is ready for a sexy, rugged outdoorsman who also happens to be a pretty freakin’ great guy?!! Yeah me too. Thankfully, Lauren Blakely has given us the perfect person in Patrick. Adventurous, sweet, funny, and owner of the world's greatest cat, Patrick Milligan is everything!! *Swoon. I absolutely loved this book!! Hard Wood is a light hearted, laugh out loud, sexy, friends to lovers/ friend’s sister romance. I knew I wanted Patrick and Mia’s story the second they met in Joy Ride. Their connection sizzled off the pages. I love their well timed, witty, back and forth banter. And, of course it should go without saying, the heat between these two is off the charts. I especially love the forbidden element to this story. Not only is Mia Max and Chase’s sister, she also becomes his client when her company hires his company for a team building excursion. Watching these two work their way around their obvious passion for each other, was pure fun. I'm giddy just thinking about these two. LOVE them!! I will never not love a Lauren Blakely rom-com. These wonderful, good natured stories are highly entertaining, have amazing character chemistry, and full of heart. Big Rock - the first book in this series of standalone - was my introduction to this author. With Hard Wood being the sixth and final book, it warms my heart seeing all the characters that I love so dang much engaged/married/having babies and happy. I hate to see this series end but knowing Lauren Blakely’s writing, I'm sure we'll see these characters again.

5 Stars For Patrick, Mia, & Zeus the Wonder Cat

As I walk along the trail, the lightening sky keeping me company, I think of Mia, and all the times we've shared. I think of our nights, our days, our moments. I've been so caught up in whether they'll become more than that, that I'm not sure I've seen them completely for what they are. My perfect days...Mia is the life I've imagined. She's the dream I want to make real. So, Patrick Milligan. He's no stranger to fans of Lauren Blakely, having made his first appearance in JOY RIDE, as upstairs neighbor and friend of Max Summers, the very same Max Summers who's got a sister named Mia...Yes, I am totally in love with Patrick. Why? Because he knows what he wants, and he's ready to go after it, whether it's creating the life he wants, or winning the girl. There is no, erm, pussyfooting around for Patrick (yep, see what I did there?). He's had it bad for Mia from their first meeting, and is all about going all in to make sure that she knows it. Lauren's heroines are always strong, self-sufficient women, and each of them has won me over. I adore that Mia is so down-to-earth, making her the perfect foil for Patrick. She's funny, loyal, and passionate, and her personality shines. Like the ladies in the other books in Lauren's series of romantic comedies, Mia is someone that I would love to call a friend. And, then, Zeus. Because, this story would not be complete without Zeus the hiking wonder cat. His inner dialogue is spot on, and, seriously, who else but Lauren would have, as a main character, a cat, let alone one that hikes, rides around town in a backpack, and has his very own Instagram account? We all need a Zeus in our lives. Lauren is the undisputed queen of the romantic comedy, and HARD WOOD rounds out this series of standalones perfectly (And, as an unabashed fan of epilogues, let me just say that LB never disappoints!). Although Patrick and Mia are the last in this group of friends to get their HEAs, I hope that we'll see more of everyone in future books. 5 sexy, swoony, 'oh, my, that shower scene!' stars for Patrick, Mia, and Zeus.

4.5 The Wait Is Over Stars!!!!

Ahhh…. Mia and Patrick!! Patrick and Mia. If you have read previous recent books by Lauren Blakely, then these two secondary character names should sound familiar. In this highly much anticipated friends to lovers romance of Mia and Patrick, Lauren Blakely nailed it as she delivers one sexy, funny, heartwarming and decadent romantic comedy. Hard Wood will honestly have you grinning and smiling like a fool. This book was pure entertainment bliss. It was sexy and at the same time made your heart go pitter patter. You just can’t help but fall in love with these characters. So if you are looking for a read that will have you obsessed, addicted, and swooning then I highly recommend you to read this book. It was cleverly written and had that great balance of romance and humor.

Sweet & Sexy, the Perfect Read!

Another great one from Miss Blakely! I know when I open on of her books I’m going to get a sexy as hell Story with lots of humor, love and just an all out great read. This was light and funny, sweet and sexy. I’ve been waiting for Patrick and Mia’s story and sure wasn’t disappointed. Another thing I loved is that Lauren is a huge animal love, you can see it in her stories. I love when she puts an animal in her books and it definitely adds to the cuteness factor. And Zeus was just too cute, #TheCatKnewFirst. I was dying when we actually got a chapter in his POV. It was great! If you’ve been following thes series of stand alone, you don’t want to miss this one, we get some of the other beloved characters as well. Don’t miss out!

A fun romantic story

This was a fantastic story. Patrick and Mia have been dancing around each other for a while now and I couldn’t wait for things to go crazy. And they did not disappoint! This friends-to-lovers tale was sweet, romantic, fun, and sexy. They had such a great rapport and they fit together perfectly. I loved reading about their journey and how their story would go. I was smiling and swooning throughout. I also loved seeing the previous couples and how their lives are now. Overall I enjoyed every single moment of this book. Hard Wood had everything a reader would expect from Lauren. I am running out of words to describe how much I love Lauren’s writing but she is the best. A remarkable read! Can’t wait for more :)

Lauren has another "big" winner with Hard Wood. Pardon the pun. I have been waiting for this story on Patrick and Mia for a long time. The wait is over and it was so worth it! This story is about love, communication, timing and nerve. Is what we say really what the other person hears? Is it ever the perfect time to say what you truly feel? Do you have the nerve to say "why the hell not" and tell that person you love them? Told in Lauren's unique style with humor, heart, witty dialogue and a little twist you need to read to appreciate. Another plus, old friends from previous books play key roles. I just love spunky, ambitious, beautiful, little Mia. And Patrick? He is handsome, very well built, thoughtful, owns a successful business, and has a strong moral compass. Plus he is ready to settle down. Did I mention this story is hot? Mia and Patrick together are most definitely hot! Enjoy!

Sweet love at its finest. Patrick and Mia fit like two-peas-in-a-pod!! Patrick is definitely a Blakely Boy-hot, handsome, heart-of-gold, and so swoon-worthy. Patrick is also the proud owner of a hiking feline who seems to always know everything first. Totally loved the occasional chapter from the feline's POV. Mia is a smart, strong, knows what she wants, and goes for it type of woman. Which includes a move across the country to get the man of her dreams. In this highly much anticipated friends to lovers romance of Mia and Patrick, Lauren Blakely nailed it as she delivers one sexy, funny, heartwarming and decadent romantic comedy. Hard Wood will honestly have you grinning and smiling like a fool. This book was pure entertainment bliss. It was sexy and at the same time made your heart go pitter patter. You just can’t help but fall in love with these characters. So if you are looking for a read that will have you obsessed, addicted, and swooning then I highly recommend you to read this book. It was cleverly written and had that great balance of romance and humor.

Sweet & Sexy, the Perfect Read!

Another great one from Miss Blakely! I know when I open on of her books I’m going to get a sexy as hell Story with lots of humor, love and just an all out great read. This was light and funny, sweet and sexy. I’ve been waiting for Patrick and Mia’s story and sure wasn’t disappointed. Another thing I loved is that Lauren is a huge animal love, you can see it in her stories. I love when she puts an animal in her books and it definitely adds to the cuteness factor. And Zeus was just too cute, #TheCatKnewFirst. I was dying when we actually got a chapter in his POV. It was great! If you’ve been following thes series of stand alone, you don’t want to miss this one, we get some of the other beloved characters as well. Don’t miss out!

A fun romantic story

This was a fantastic story. Patrick and Mia have been dancing around each other for a while now and I couldn’t wait for things to go crazy. And they did not disappoint! This friends-to-lovers tale was sweet, romantic, fun, and sexy. They had such a great rapport and they fit together perfectly. I loved reading about their journey and how their story would go. I was smiling and swooning throughout. I also loved seeing the previous couples and how their lives are now. Overall I enjoyed every single moment of this book. Hard Wood had everything a reader would expect from Lauren. I am running out of words to describe how much I love Lauren’s writing but she is the best. A remarkable read! Can’t wait for more :)

Lauren has another "big" winner with Hard Wood. Pardon the pun. I have been waiting for this story on Patrick and Mia for a long time. The wait is over and it was so worth it! This story is about love, communication, timing and nerve. Is what we say really what the other person hears? Is it ever the perfect time to say what you truly feel? Do you have the nerve to say "why the hell not" and tell that person you love them? Told in Lauren's unique style with humor, heart, witty dialogue and a little twist you need to read to appreciate. Another plus, old friends from previous books play key roles. I just love spunky, ambitious, beautiful, little Mia. And Patrick? He is handsome, very well built, thoughtful, owns a successful business, and has a strong moral compass. Plus he is ready to settle down. Did I mention this story is hot? Sweet love at its finest. Patrick and Mia fit like two-peas-in-a-pod!! Patrick is definitely a Blakely Boy-hot, handsome, heart-of-gold, and so swoon-worthy. Patrick is also the proud owner of a hiking feline who seems to always know everything first. Totally loved the occasional chapter from the feline's POV. Mia is a smart, strong, knows what she wants, and goes for it type of woman. Which includes a move across the country to get the man of her dreams. As always, Lauren knows how to write hot, steamy, and oh-so sexy scenes between the sheets. Another great rom-com that lets you escape into a world of great characters with lots of love and laughs from Ms. Blakely. I am continually amazed at Lauren's ability to create a great love story. I love Patrick, Mia, and Zeus!

Hard Wood was an enjoyable, funny, and cute read. It all had a very light and happy feel to it, with few bumps in the road. Patrick is a sweet and "normal" guy, as Mia says, and I loved him. I'm not much of a cat person, but I loved Zeus! He is adorable and his chapters were cute and unique, especially the last epilogue. Mia and Patrick are cute together and I enjoyed reading their journey. I especially loved that a lot of the previous characters were included and we got some updates from them. Hard Wood was a good way to end the series.

Fun and Sweet!

I read this entire book within 7 hours...I was super sucked in. Hard Wood was super cute, fun, and light. It was a really sweet and feel good romance. I loved the lightness to it. Patrick is adorable to me and I dislikes cats, but Zeus was a lot of fun. I love the perfect fit that Mia and Patrick are to one another. They both know what they want, but have trouble navigating what the other wants. I enjoyed the overall story and really like these two together. We got to see a bit of the whole gang through out and it was bittersweet. I love this world and group of characters, and I am sad their stories are coming to a close. Definitely love all these men and being in their heads.

Get this book and see why Mia, Patrick, and a cat named Zeus will steal your heart. Hard Wood is told through Patrick’s point of view. Having read Lauren’s other books, I knew this book was going to be solid. I thought it was brilliant how she was able to use Zeus’ voice to tell his kitty cat side of the story as well as Mia’s. Hard Wood is so much fun, drama-free and such a fast and lovable read. Patrick's wood is good ;)

Gotta love a "Boy Scout"!

Another great Male POV Rom-Com from Lauren Blakely! She is a master at making me feel warm and fuzzy from these sweet alpha males and their journey to get their girl. Patrick is a boy-scout, he is sweet and adventurous and he knows what he wants! Mia is a workaholic who needs to be reminded how to slow down and relax and Patrick is just who she needs to help remind her. Their story is sweet and sexy. And to no surprise for most this book is filled with pets ;)

This series has the most drool worthy cover models because these stories are all told from the guys point of view, even Patrick's cat, Zeus, has something to say about the relationship that develops between Patrick and Mia. I loved the scenes where both Patrick and Mia confess secrets to Zeus; he knows everything that is in Patrick and Mia's hearts, but of course, he's keeping their secrets to himself. These characters are very likable and the storyline is enjoyable but it lacked conflict and the heartbreaking angst that goes hand in hand when two people are falling in love. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my unsolicited and voluntary review are completely my own.

I loved absolutely everything about this book. Wait, I am not happy that I finished it and it is over. I don't like that part. This is one of those books, the rare ones, where you wish you could forget everything about the book and read it again, for the first time. I don't want it to be over...I wanted another epilogue, and another, and another. But, seriously, it was perfection. Yeah, yeah, I know. I say that about all of Lauren Blakely's books. And, it is true about every single one of them, and for different reasons every time. This one, I could not stop smiling. And, I adored Zeus. The addition of Patrick's cat (as much as I am sure Zeus would protest this name) gave this book a humor, and a vibe that is so different than other books with pets, I think because Lauren Blakely clearly knows cats, and how they think...or at least how humans believe they think, as who knows. As a cat person myself, and one who absolutely loves the quirks of having a cat in my life (one of the "drag" variety who will not be going outside, unlike this cat), I adored Zeus. It had characters you love, quotes by one of my favorite authors, cats you want to cuddle and get high on catnip, and recurring characters you are happy to see again. If you haven't read the other books, first, what are you thinking??? Go read them!!! And, second, the recurring characters don't keep this from being a standalone, and you can read it even if you haven't read the others (although I am still stuck on the idea that you might not have read them?!?!?) and still enjoy Patrick and Mia. Patrick and Mia are perfect. I love that they know how perfect they are for one another from the beginning, and that it takes them a little time to tell one another. Not because they are afraid of rejection, or because they doubt their feelings, but because they are ok with waiting for the other person, for as long as it takes, for them to work out and be together. So perfect, charming and fun to read. Zeus. I am not even sure what to say about Zeus. Wait, I don't need to say anything. He is a cat, and he already knows. Because, well, he is a cat. And, I ADORED him. I loved that he was a part of the book, and that he got to be a character. Because he is awesome...and all good romances should have a cat. Really. Romance, for it to work, needs to engage the mind and the heart of the reader. You have to not only believe in the characters, you have to feel what they are feeling, their joy, their uncertainty, and their happiness. This is so easy to do with Lauren's books, as they are so well written they draw you in, and you feel all the feels, you can't help it...it just happens and you are willingly along for the ride. The ending is perfect, and it is so true to them, to the way they have been the entire time. And, while this is hard to say without spoiling so I will be vague, the sheer romance of his idea, of how they should begin the new phase of their relationship is the kind of thing you will still be swooning over days later. It was probably the cat's idea. I loved this book. And, I recommend it. Don't believe me? Just ask my cat Maxwell, he knows all...and knew it first.

Who is ready for a sexy, rugged outdoorsman who also happens to be a pretty freakin’ great guy?!! Yeah me too. Thankfully, Lauren Blakely has given us the perfect person in Patrick. Adventurous, sweet, funny, and owner of the world's greatest cat, Patrick Milligan is everything!! *Swoon. I absolutely loved this book!! Hard Wood is a light hearted, laugh out loud, sexy, friends to lovers/ friend’s sister romance. I knew I wanted Patrick and Mia’s story the second they met in Joy Ride. Their connection sizzled off the pages. I love their well timed, witty, back and forth banter. And, of course it should go without saying, the heat between these two is off the charts. I especially love the forbidden element to this story. Not only is Mia Max and Chase’s sister, she also becomes his client when her company hires his company for a team building excursion. Watching these two work their way around their obvious passion for each other, was pure fun. I'm giddy just thinking about these two. LOVE them!! I will never not love a Lauren Blakely rom-com. These wonderful, good natured stories are highly entertaining, have amazing character chemistry, and full of heart. Big Rock - the first book in this series of standalone - was my introduction to this author. With Hard Wood being the sixth and final book, it warms my heart seeing all the characters that I love so dang much engaged/married/having babies and happy. I hate to see this series end but knowing Lauren Blakely’s writing, I'm sure we'll see these characters again.

As I walk along the trail, the lightening sky keeping me company, I think of Mia, and all the times we've shared. I think of our nights, our days, our moments. I've been so caught up in whether they'll become more than that, that I'm not sure I've seen them completely for what they are. My perfect days...Mia is the life I've imagined. She's the dream I want to make real. So, Patrick Milligan. He's no stranger to fans of Lauren Blakely, having made his first appearance in JOY RIDE, as upstairs neighbor and friend of Max Summers, the very same Max Summers who's got a sister named Mia...Yes, I am totally in love with Patrick. Why? Because he knows what he wants, and he's ready to go after it, whether it's creating the life he wants, or winning the girl. There is no, erm, pussyfooting around for Patrick (yep, see what I did there?). He's had it bad for Mia from their first meeting, and is all about going all in to make sure that she knows it. Lauren's heroines are always strong, self-sufficient women, and each of them has won me over. I adore that Mia is so down-to-earth, making her the perfect foil for Patrick. She's funny, loyal, and passionate, and her personality shines. Like the ladies in the other books in Lauren's series of romantic comedies, Mia is someone that I would love to call a friend. And, then, Zeus. Because, this story would not be complete without Zeus the hiking wonder cat. His inner dialogue is spot on, and, seriously, who else but Lauren would have, as a main character, a cat, let alone one that hikes, rides around town in a backpack, and has his very own Instagram account? We all need a Zeus in our lives. Lauren is the undisputed queen of the romantic comedy, and HARD WOOD rounds out this series of standalones perfectly (And, as an unabashed fan of epilogues, let me just say that LB never disappoints!). Although Patrick and Mia are the last in this group of friends to get their HEAs, I hope that we'll see more of everyone in future books. 5 sexy, swoony, 'oh, my, that shower scene!' stars for Patrick, Mia, and Zeus.
